Updating the unit software

We recommend that the latest software version be always used. Check and download the latest software version at http://cloud.vallox.com either before or immediately after setup.

The current software version of the ventilation unit is shown on the control panel display when the unit is connected to the mains or factory settings are restored. Alternatively, the current software version can be checked from the Unit info display (Service menu > Unit info).

Note:

You can update the unit software either through the MyVallox control panel or by connecting the ventilation unit to the MyVallox Cloud service. Once the ventilation unit is connected to the cloud service, software is updated automatically.

  1. To update the ventilation unit software through the MyVallox control panel:
    1. Download the latest update package onto the computer from the front page of the MyVallox Cloud service at cloud.vallox.com . The latest update can be found under Latest firmware version.
      Note:

The name of the update file to be transferred must always be the same, namely HSWUPD.BIN. If you have previously downloaded an update file onto your computer, remove the old file before downloading the new one to ensure that the file name will remain unchanged.

    2. Connect the computer to the control panel of the ventilation unit using a USB Micro-B connector.
      Note:
      • The MyVallox Control panel cannot be used if the control panel is connected to a computer. In such a case, a USB sign will be shown on the display of the control panel.
      • If the computer cannot find the ventilation unit, a charging cable has probably been used to connect the devices. Replace the USB Micro-B cable with another cable.
    3. Once the ventilation unit has started, the computer will display the control panel as a removable disk in the resource management.
    4. Copy the HSWUPD.BIN update package you have downloaded and paste it to the control panel, i.e. to the root of the removable disk.
      Important:

Do not change the file name.

    5. Ensure that the update package has been fully copied by selecting the safe removal of the USB device option. This function is selected differently in each operating system.
    6. Disconnect the USB cable.
    7. The control panel will take a moment to download the update file (the progress of the download is shown on the display) and will then transfer the update package to the ventilation unit on the background. This takes around 4-5 hours.
    8. The computer will start using the new software after the update is complete and will restart automatically.
      Note:

The ventilation unit must be turned on throughout the update process. If the power of the ventilation unit is cut during the update process, the transfer process will start again from the beginning and will take another 4-5 hours.

      Note:

If a red error display appears on the control panel asking the user to download the update package again, start again from step one.

    9. The update is complete when the software version specified on the Unit info display is the same as on the http://cloud.vallox.com website.
  2. Updating the MyVallox ventilation unit with the MyVallox Touch control panel:

You need a computer with an internet connection, a MicroSD card and, possibly, an adapter.

    Requirements for the MicroSD card:

    • Format FAT32 (exFAT does not work)

    • Max. size 32GB

    • No minimum size.

    1. Download the latest software version at: https://cloud.vallox.com/
    2. Transfer the update file HSWUPD.BIN (Note! The file name must not be altered!) that you have downloaded onto a MicroSD card.
    3. Unplug the ventilation unit from the mains or turn off the fuse.
    4. Dismount the control panel from the outlet box and remove the grey mounting frame from the control panel. Do not unplug the control panel power cords. Insert the MicroSD card into the control panel.
    5. Plug the unit in or switch the fuse back on.
    6. The control panel downloads the new software version from the MicroSD card to the control panel. A progress bar is shown on the display. This takes about one minute.
    7. When the download is complete, you can remove the MicroSD card and mount the control panel back onto the outlet box. Do not unplug the control panel power cords.
    8. The control panel transfers the new software from the control panel to the motherboard of the ventilation unit. This may take several hours. The unit works normally but it is not recommended to use the control panel.
    9. Once the update process is complete, the unit will restart. The unit’s software version is displayed on the control panel when the unit starts up and during use: Service menu > Unit information.
