Adjusting the supply and extract air flows

Important

Adjust the air flows according to the values specified in the ventilation plan. First, adjust the valves to positions that you expect to be closest to the correct setting. Next, set the values of both fans as close to the ideal value as possible by looking at the supply and extract air fan curves. Measuring tubes that are either integrated with the unit or delivered with it can be used to adjust the overall air flow rate of the system. Next, measure and adjust the air flows from the valves. It is recommended that the air flows be adjusted without having to choke the air flows at the valves. This is the most quiet and energy-efficient set up.

If the output ratio between the air flows is very high at first, the ventilation unit may have to carry out extra defrosting cycles in sub-zero temperatures, thus making adjustment of the air flows more complicated.

Important

If the use of the ventilation unit has been started before air flow adjustment, we recommend that the factory settings of the ventilation unis be restored before adjustment is started (see “Restore factory settings” in Chapter the section called “Save and restore settings”). This ensure that the unit settings are optimal for adjusting the air flows and that any settings made during the adjustment are saved as setup settings. Any later changes will be saved as user settings. Both the setup and user settings can be restored later even if the settings had been modified later.

Note

If the outdoor air is extremely cold (below -10°C when an aluminium cell is used or below -3°C when a plastic cell is used), the ventilation unit may need to defrost the heat recovery cell. The air flows cannot be adjusted during defrosting.

The setup wizard will inform the user if the defrosting cycle of the heat recovery cell starts during the setup. Wait until the cycle has finished before continuing the setup.

  1. Select Basic fan settings.

  2. Set the supply air fan speed as a percentage of the maximum by moving the blue Supply air slider. The fan speed (1/min) will change accordingly.

  3. Measure and adjust the supply air flows from the valves.

  4. Set the extract air volume as a percentage of the maximum output by moving the blue Extract air slider. The fan speed (1/min) will change accordingly.

  5. Measure and adjust the extract air flows from the valves.

Supply and extract air flow settings are now complete.

  6. Record the set percentages in the measurement log.
